It's that simple, really.

Even with last night's overtime loss, a win tonight will clinch the division for the Flyers. It won't matter what the Penguins do on Sunday. The Flyers hold the tiebreaker.

A loss or a tie tonight would give the Pens a chance to win the division in their game against the Thrashers tomorrow. That would drop the Flyers to fourth in the conference and into a matchup with the Lightning, who have had the Flyers' number this season. Not good.

Winning the division would allow the Flyers to finish either second or third in the conference… and avoid playing the Lightning in the first round.

“We’ve got to have a short memory,” captain Mike Richards told reporters. “We did a lot of good things tonight. Obviously, disappointed that we didn’t get the win but we put ourselves in a position to win one game at home and win the division.”

Well put, Mike.
