CSN to Become NBC Sports Philadelphia

Looks like the Comcast takeover of NBC will start to show: [Philly.com via Barstool]

Expect Comcast SportsNet to soon change its name to NBC Sports Philadelphia.

NBC Sports chairman Dick Ebersol recently told NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman that Comcast's regional sports networks "all across the country will begin to be referred to something like 'NBC Sports Philadelphia,' 'NBC Sports Chicago,' etc.

That should do wonders for establishing a local identity in sports news…

  1. I only care about this if somehow I start getting the channel in Gettysburg and boy, do I want to care!! I’m getting tired of streaming games on my computer.

  2. I guess it’s better to be named for an actual nework than a cable company. SportsNet sounds 80s too. Like Wayne’s World or something.

  3. A turd by any other name would still stink as mightily. This name change won’t improve my chances of getting Sportsnet since I’m a satellite subscriber.

  4. Can’t agree with Eric more! I go to Gettysburg College which also happens to have like the worst internet connections ever so trying to watch a flyers game is terrible settled for listening to the games on the radio. I don’t think there is anything worse than listening to a hockey game online…especially with bitter commentators who just rip on Carbomb the whole time..
