Trivia: Sports Movies

Bombay
Last night, we quizzoed (verb?) at Drinker's. Reader Johnny had the good idea of posting the questions online to occupy you during this sports chasm. We agree.

Here now are 30 questions (plus 2 bonus) from last night's quizzo. We skipped over the quote round here because it's not quite the same on paper… or interweb- whatever. The answers are at the bottom- don't cheat, yo. See how you would have done.

I didn't totally edit all of these questions beyond what was written for my own understanding, so please excuse any typos or awkward sentences.

  1. Kyle, I always preferred having players do “Zezels” than “Herbies”. I do recall you had to skate a number of Zezels in your hockey career.

  2. Dave- this caused lots of controversy last night. Stahl did perform the triple deke then shoot glove side. We wound up accepting both answers.

  3. He’s right, folks. Hendricks coached me when I was just a young lad. Nothing like “Zezels” at 6:30 A.M.

  4. I feel ashamed that I knew Kit got traded to the Racine Belles. High fastballs….can’t hit and can’t lay off em. I will now turn in my man card.

  5. would “suicides” have also been acceptable for Herbies? although i think in miracle they were different than suicides

  6. actually i think they were the same haha. so would “suicides” have been acceptable?

  7. no because I used suicides in the question. The question was “this drill later came to be known as” I probably would have accepted arguments on that one. No one came close.

  8. “I was being sarcastic, Karp. Do you know what that means?” “NooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo!”
and also… how bout this: complete the Mallrats quote: “breakfasts come and go, Renee. but _____________________________________________”

  9. “Breakfasts come and go, Renee, but Hartford, “the Whale ,” they only beat Vancouver once, maybe twice in a lifetime.”
    Classic flick, and line.
