ESPN Made Michael Vick White

Michael_vick_white Is it just me or is that not essentially Tim Tebow with a goatee?

Oh boy.

It's not quite as bad as you think. They published a very ballsy article in the latest issue of ESPN The Magazine, which has Vick on the cover. It deals with race (obviously) and wonders how Vick would be viewed, or how his circumstances would be different, if he were white.

You can read the article here. Somewhere, Michael Jackson is pissed.

UPDATE: ESPN has removed the photo. It lives on here.

UPDATE 2: They put the picture back.

  1. I feel like the head/neck are too big for that body. I know — they may have simply altered the colors/hair type on an existing photograph, but it doesn’t look proportional.

  2. he’d still get the same treatment. make millions of dollars for killing defenseless animals.

  3. This is ridiculous…. i am getting sick of all these race based articles that have been polluting the web lately. And not blaming you kyle, i mean you are just re posting it, not the originator of this crap. I mean Ken Rosenthal’s two part article about how blacks arent being marketed right and how MLB does nothing(haha yeah right) to attract more young black talent. and now this implying that vick is hated not b/c of his actions but b/c of his race…. I know that one part is shock value which peaks interest/traffic and translates directly into $$$$, but seriously give it a rest!

  4. Two observations: 1) he looks like one of those creepy real looking digital people from Polar Express and 2) did they make his dick smaller when they made him white?

  5. I for one am glad that news outlets are covering the racial aspect of Michael Vick, Jimmy Rollins’ comments on black baseball players, and Jerry Richardson’s comments to Cam Newton. I think that it just shows a divide between how certain members of the public and media view situations versus how some African Americans do. What’s so wrong with that?

  6. He would be treated very differntly. Nobody would be making excuses for his crimes because “it’s a cultural thing.”

  7. @ Brandon…are you from Africa? Were your parents from Africa? Just because your heritage is from Africa doesn’t mean you’re African American. You are AMERICAN, as we all are…SO TIRED OF THESE STUPID RACE ARTICLES. Give it a rest already.

  8. Who was the model for this, Brian Austin Greene, that dork from the orginal 90210 who is now banging Hollywood starlet after starlet with his all grown up like stud rap?

  9. if Vick were white – he would never get back in football – white people would NEVER accept his behavior – there would be no excuses – he couldn’t argue that he was a poor unfortunate who was raised in a culture where this was accepted – there would not be an entire race of people supporting him – white people ARE held accountable (unless they work on Wall Street or DC)

  10. Thats fucking Racist!!!!!
White face on a black man?? How much longer must us white men, be oppressed by the black race?? Why couldn’t they just get Kevin Federline take the photo in a Vick Jersey?

  12. I’m much like the head/neck are so large to the entire body. I am aware — they could have got just transformed the particular colors/hair variety by using an active image, nevertheless it won’t appear proportional.
