Jimmy Rollins is slowly killing the beat writer profession. This is the second time this season he has sent out news before the Phillies could get it out there. Well done, Jimmy.

That's all you need to know. He's presumably referring to his groin. This needs to not linger, otherwise a hampered Rollins is going to – I'd argue – moderately hurt the Phillies' World Series chances.

  1. Only reason that i am concerned with this is b/c with Polanco out now Martinez and Big Willy Style Valdez will both be starters for a stretch…. if only jimmy hustled on the field like he does on twitter

  2. So let me get this straight….Cole has Dead Arm, we drop 2 to the Nats AND now Rollins is on the DL…PLEASE dear God don’t let this team wind up like the Flyers of last year. This isn’t sounded good.

  3. Poly should be back real soon (maybe even this Mets series); just worried about how good he’ll be if he’s not 100%, although Martinez ain’t much better. Even though MM’s had some good offense lately, how long will it last?
Valdez filling in for J-Roll I’m less worried about cause he’s good at SS for being a bench player, although I worry about how hot he’ll stay at bat. The biggest worry is that who else do they have to fill in if Utley or Howard needs a rest day because of the gruelling schedule? Even when the bench gets extended, who else do they have to play the infield besides Gload (if MM and Valdez are already filling in)?
Still, at this point I think they’re still looking a lot more capable at staying on top than the Flyers were with their abombminable season.

  4. Adam,
No offense, but you’re an idiot. Jimmy isn’t running hard on ground balls that are sure outs because his legs aren’t 100 percent.
No position player, except maybe Chase, is more focused in the field during a game. Jimmy runs the infield offense. He’s an incredibly smart baseball player.
The Jimmy-doesn’t-hustle meme is overplayed. (Yes, he was benched in the past for not hustling, so the meme is rooted in reality. But no one criticizes Chase when, on a pop-up to left, he drops his head, and drags himself in the direction of first base.)

  5. Just heard that Ibanez is also scratched tonight becuase of a sore groin. So, Raul and Jimmy both injure their groins on the same day . . . hmmmm . . .just sayin’.
