Oh, hey, look– an article about Philly fans that doesn’t include mentions of Santa, snowballs, batteries, or vomit. Winner!

TravelandLeisure.com (?) named Philadelphia America’s most sports-crazed city, using the following description:

Heartaches over the years may have only deepened the fans’ commitment. To mingle (or commiserate) with locals—who, alas, don’t rank well in the survey for being athletic themselves—check out a Chickie’s and Pete’s sports bar, and try the famous “crab fries.” Or, make like Rocky, and run up and down the steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

So that's why four consecutive posts on hockey jerseys that will be worn for one game were so heavily read earlier today? Pat yourselves on the back.

Number two Boston, number three Chicago. Read the full list… hither.

  1. I love that we are number one, but I looked over that list and its a crock of shit. NY is number 17? Puerto Rico is in the top 10? Kansas City?
Very cool that we’re number 1, and I agree with that statement, but the list sucks.

  2. But we still get dicked as being fatties. Has travelandleisure.com looked around other major metro areas and not seen an overweight inhabiant cruising around in their minivan decked out in sport stickers and flags??

  3. As much as I hate all things NY sports, this list has ZERO credibility when it puts NY 17th behind cities like Memphis and Austin. What a joke…

  4. I have such a hard time explaining to people in NC how you either love Philly (which I do) or Pittsburgh. They think I should love both.. but hell no!!! I’m a Phillies girl through and through!!
