Prosecution Will Seek to Use Unaired Portion of Jerry Sandusky Interview, Oh, and Papa Sandy’s Character Witnesses Also Showered with Children

In case you needed (or wanted) more evidence that Jerry Sandusky is one of the worst people on earth, NBC was contacted by Pennsylvania prosecution about using the transcript of un-aired portions of Bob Costas’ interview with Sandusky from back in November.

The particular part that interests the prosecution is this one: [transcript via CentreDaily.com]

JERRY SANDUSKY:

I have worked with many, many young people where there has been no misinterpretation of my actions and I have made a very significant difference in their lives.

BOB COSTAS:

But isn't what you're just describing the classic MO of many pedophiles? And that is that they gain the trust of young people, they don't necessarily abuse every young person. There were hundreds, if not thousands of young boys you came into contact with, but there are allegations that at least eight of them were victimized. Many people believe there are more to come. So it's entirely possible that you could've helped young boy A in some way that was not objectionable while horribly taking advantage of young boy B, C, D, and E. Isn't that possible?

JERRY SANDUSKY:

Well — you might think that. I don't know. (LAUGHS) In terms of — my relationship with so many, many young people. I would — I would guess that there are many young people who would come forward. Many more young people who would come forward and say that my methods and — and what I had done for them made a very positive impact on their life. And I didn't go around seeking out every young person for sexual needs that I've helped. There are many that I didn't have — I hardly had any contact with who I have helped in many, many ways.

While you have to make a mild leap from “I didn’t go around seeking out every young person for sexual needs” to “I raped some of them, though,” it’s hardly a stretch. And it’s now something which really interests the prosecution.

Also, how in the hell does NBC edit something like that out?

Meanwhile, in the land of the lost, the worst lawyer in the world, Joe Amendola, called some character witnesses for his client today. Problem: the character witnesses in this child molestation case are also former Penn State coaches who shower with children:

And from StateCollege.com:

Booker T. Brooks was the second former Penn State football assistant coach to testify for the defense. He moved back to State College after several years in other coaching positions.

“When you work with a person over several years, 14 hours a day, you get to know a person,” Brooks said of his tenure with Sandusky.

“Jerry is well-known, certainly in the coaching world,” Brooks said.  “Top-notch, words come to mind like that.”

Brooks also testified that showering with boys was a normal occurrence, both when he was a boy and as a coach.

Brooks told the court he brings his granddaughter to the local Y.M.C.A, and, as she is not old enough to be alone in a locker room, he takes her in with him.

“We go in and we shower and I put dry clothes on her,” he said.

Doh! Hate it when my child rape character witnesses shower with their granddaughters at the local YMCA.

  1. We don’t care about Sandusky here in Philly,
WTF man, you are worse than Macnow and his JoePA tribute on WIP as if PSU is local

  2. I heard joe pa used to shower with fat Scott pa & then joked with Sandusky that Fat Scott hasn’t seen his dick since he came out of his mother

  3. Scott Paterno was last seen just outside of the Centre County Courthouse. He was purchasing an extra large Chilli cheese dog with extra relish at 1:17 p.m. local time. His whereabouts at 7:18 p.m. are unknown.

  4. Scott Pa was seen @ 6:14pm tonight getting an order of 50 hot wings takeout from the dark horse tavern. He walked out with a smile

  5. Members of this forum community,
I am totally and completely appalled by the comments in this particular thread. This is an extermely serious matter, involving the most heinous crime imaginable and many of you young gentlemen are trying to make a mockery of the situation with ignorant comments about obesity. It’s flat out sickening. You do not cease to amaze me with your ignorance and total disregard for all that is decent in this world.
I have taken the past few weeks off from work to attend this very riveting trial and was hoping to tune in to some insightful discussion points. Sandusky, I will not call Mr., is a monster and some of the evidence that the prosecution has presented is down right deplorable. I hope that moving forward you can take some time out of your busy schedules and educated yourselves on the matter of sexual abuse.

  6. Murph, what is it that you hope to accomplish by attending the trial? If you want to help abused children, sitting in a courtroom is not the way to do it. Oh, you’re “educated” now? Good stuff. That will *really* make a difference. Try using that vacation time to actually help someone.

  7. Everybody’s makin a big ta-do about nuttin over there…they should be prosecutin dem little tattle-tale liar kids!

  8. That un-aired footage is 50/50 (see Pettite’s change of tune to give HGH fiend Clemens freedom) and only continues the trend of GREY that surrounds Sandusky.
It is clear SOMETHING happened, I dont think anyone can pin point what, or to the extent of it, but clearly something happened….and its just wrong.
I like these posts and keeping up with the proceedings…..PSU is HUGE throughout PA, and since Philly is within PA last time I checked, this post and others related to the trail are 110% merited.
@PSU is NOT Philly-In Case you didn’t know your just another idiot that needs to disappear.

  9. Shortly after this whole thing broke last fall, I heard an interesting point that relates to Sandusky’s “character” witnesses. With all the success PSU had, and as good as their defense was, why wasn’t Sandusky made the HEAD coach at another school? I believe it was mentioned that other schools had called PSU asking to speak to him, and PSU said no. You have to believe that they KNEW he’d be bad news, and wanted to keep him close. The vast majority of schools, or even pro teams, won’t deny their assistant coaches a chance to move up.
