Andy Reid Just Intentionally or Unintentionally Started a Quarterback Controversy

OHHHHH YEAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! SNAP INTO A SLIM JIM. IT WOULDN’T BE FOOTBALL SEASON IN PHILADELPHIA WITHOUT A QUARTERBACK CONTROVERSY.

Let’s throw gas on some innocent-looking smoke wafting through the air, because I love starting shit… and so does Andy Reid. Maybe.

Eagles reporters, fresh off a cross-country flight, dutifully asked Big Red today if the Eagles would make a change at quarterback. The response:

“Right now we're with Michael and that's what we're doing. We'll evaluate it as we go.”

Two weeks ago that question would have been met with a “Michael is our quarterback, a laugh, or “no.”

The scriptuals hopped all over it:

A QB controversy? No. Not yet. We’ll have to evaluate as we go.

  1. I want to see the same quote from Mr. Lurie
“Right now we’re with Andy, we’ll evaluate as we go…”

  2. For a guy as calculating and tight lipped as AR, that was equivalent to giving Vick two weeks notice.

  3. Better off going with foles. Vick is playing like a rookie QB anyway!
Maybe move Vick to safety or special teams to somewhat earn his paycheck!!!

  4. West Coast Offense arrogance at its best yesterday.
Three pass plays from the 5 yd line.
Marino & Fouts = no SB Ring
even John Elway needed a running game to win his Ring.

  5. Like we aren’t going to see Foles soon anyway with the number of hits Vick takes on a weekly basis?
    I fucking hate Andy Reid.

  6. I don’t know if Vick couldn’t read the blitz or just chose to ignore it, but his inability to change the call at the line of scrimmage yesterday was a glaring problem that manifested itself on almost every snap.

  7. It doesn’t matter who the QB is. If they continue to blatantly ignore the running game, they will lose. Look at the three undefeated teams.
    Houston, Atlanta, Arizona
Granted Atlanta has thrown it well, and Schaub threw 4 TD’s yesterday…That aside, all three can stop the run and run the ball. Last year’s QB swoon was an illusion. A product of the lockout and lack of off-season. This year, defense will balance the equation back to a somewhat normal clip for offense’s.
You’re missing your best WR and half of your offensive line…and oh yeah, you have LeSean McCOy…but you insist on throwing the ball 50-60 times a week…The controversy shouldn’t be over the damn QB, it should be over whoever the hell is calling the plays. I’m looking at you Marty Mornhingwhegh (sp? too many H’s? look how many fucks I give________. Run the ball consistently, I spell your name right…maybe.)

  8. Vick aka Ron Mexico is too dumb to read a book, let alone a defense. I smile at each devastating hit he takes.

  9. You guys are all missing the point. Reid is trying to avoid a QB controversy by completely ignoring the run game thus causing Vick to get hit 20 times a game. It’s just that Vick’s new super dupe kevlar flack jacket is making it more difficult for his plan to work. The plan should work by week 6. On another note, there is no way in hell that Celek doesn’t have a concussion.

  10. I don’t think it matters if Jesus is in the pocket right now. Not even he could preform the miracle needed to turn that offensive line around. I counted over 10 times were Vick was hit, sacked, or Pressured under 2 seconds after the snap. That is not Vicks fault. The decision making is however of what to do with the ball while under pressure.

  11. While Vick has certainly been sucking, it does help to have Andy drop him back to pass 75% of the time. It’s on the coach for putting him in that situation in the first place.

  12. The lack of running the ball equates to having a Ferrari that you just keep in the garage cause you are afraid of getting it dirty, but bring it into the driveway when you have people coming over (play-action) even though everyone knows you don’t drive it. Glad we kept 4 running backs and yet barely use our All-Pro RB.
And Vick never could read a defense at this point let’s be realistic, he’s not smart enough to understand what is going on pre-snap. It’s bad enough that my girlfriend noticed pre-snap that “that guy is blitzing from the top of the screen” aka Rhodes.

  13. @Jimbo
Jesus would protect himself by shifting the blocking scheme at the line to pick up the blitz…Also mixing in a run would keep the defense at bay a little more.
Vick Sucks can we please move on
