Video: 2012 Phillies Highlight Video (Caution: May Cause Explainable Pain)

This will be on YouTube for about 30 seconds. But, thanks to reader Kevin, we can celebrate the mediocrity that was the 2012 Phillies with a low-res highlight video. I imagine this is what it would be like to watch hidden footage from your prom which shows the night starting off with promise, but ending in misery as you sit pantsless and alone in a sleeping bag while your date is upstairs soliciting phone numbers from all your drunk and euphoric friends, one of whom has a sweet beard and used to be your besty… something I call: April 7, 2000.

Anyway, watch this highlight video before the MLB police erase it from the face of the intertubes.

you are a master with words, Mr. Scott

  2. Hi this is Kevin, the person who made the video, and first of all I’d just like to again say thank you very much for featuring it on your blog, I appreciate it very much. Although may I say, I apologize if you find the resolution less than satisfactory, but when you download video clips from the Phillies website as I have (where I got ALL of these over the season), they don’t come in HD form originally anyway. What you’re seeing here, that was the best possible quality they were ever going to be, so something like that was never in my control. I honestly though there were high enough quality to still bothering make the video, in fact this is the 3rd consecutive season I’m produced a year-end highlight reel.
Also I agree, there’s certainly some things about Tom McCarthy I’m not crazy about, he certainly ain’t no Harry, but for one thing there’s many segments here in which I’m featuring a player milestone moment, and as a viewer that could be difficult to grasp only from watching the footage unfold, so in that fashion sometimes T-Mac is necessary to fully appreciate what’s happening in that moment and why it’s important and meaningful. I tried to minimalize his involvement.
And finally I’m sorry if anyone thought the video was anticlimactic, although I’d ask you to remember that the season was overall fairly disappointing, after all. Granted, I still wanted to make a highlight reel because I felt there were moments worth celebrating and like I said, this has become a thing I do every year now and I have a lot of fun with it, I’ve been into editing as a hobby for a long time now. I honestly don’t believe there was exactly an overabundance of choices for a “big finish” here, again considering the season as a whole. Given Papelbon’s role on the team, I thought he was as good a choice as any with which to finish it, and obviously I used a personal milestone of his 250th save to finish it off.
Okay I know this has been waaaaaaaay too long lol Sorry about that. Thanks everyone for indulging me, thanks to CB for posting the video up, and I hope everyone truly enjoys it. Thank you.
