Howard Eskin reported on FOX 29 tonight that the Phillies are working on “something big” for their outfield: trading Domonic Brown to Toronto for 33-year-old Jose Bautista, who hit 24 home runs last year before being sidelined with a bone bruise on his femur. He has two years and $28 million left on his contract.

The sole reason for the deal would appear to be getting more right-handed power in the lineup… by way of trading their best hitter, who costs virtually nothing. Makes sense.

Eskin’s had a rough year in terms of breaking news, so we’ll take this with a grain of salt for now.
