A Fight Broke Out at the Christmas Village Tree Lighting Ceremony in Love Park Tonight

Christmas time. A time of cheer, a time of joy, a time to celebrate family, friends AND THAT FUCKING DOUCHEBAG NEXT TO YOU WITH THE GANG TATTOOS.

A fight broke out at the Christmas tree lighting in Love Park this evening. Mayor Nutter and other dignitaries were on-hand and so, too, was FOX Philly, whose cameras* captured a mild fracas just before the tree was lit:

Philadelphia News, Weather and Sports from WTXF FOX 29

Great. Now not only are we the city that threw snowballs at Santa that one time 40 years ago… but we’re also going to be the city whose inhabitants beat the shit out of each other at communal and joyous holiday gatherings. And to make matters worse, FOX couldn’t even make it through a 90-second live hit – about the fight – without a union member protesting (AT A CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY!) city contracts. It’s always sunny here.

*I absolutely LOVE “Silver Bells” being sung in the background just as FOX goes to Chris O’Connell to report on a melee.

“But i mean, can anybody honestly say that they are surprised by this? This is the city, after all, which notoriously pelted Santa with snowballs. Hurr durr!!!” Man, I could probably get a job writing for the lame stream media for real. Kyle, do you need another writer for this blog? Maybe give me a trial run where i pen a couple pieces for free so you could get an idea of how well I write. Course i would need a couple weeks before i could start, I have final exams to study for at the moment, My pieces would focus ,more on the sports aspect of things, like game previews and recaps. Let me know what you think. Love the blog btw. Email me on the email i provided, thaats my legit email bud. I am serious about this too.

I’ll put money on it being someone from Jersey. It’s almost always someone from Jersey giving Philly its bad rep.

“I drive a shitty car” might be the worst comeback I have ever seen.

this is a dumb comment because private companies do not answer to unions. I work for a private company, they give us paid holidays, weekends off, etc not because a Union dictates it, but because thats how the company wants to run its business. We also promote based on merit, not seniority

That wasn’t the point. Labor day, time off etc was started by the union. It’s the reason it exist was the point.

Unions drive jobs to the South. They don’t preserve jobs, they keep their members unemployed. Econ101, google it.

i am a union member. i will admit that my union, like all unions, does protect a few bad apples with its umbrella-like coverage. this includes people that otherwise would need to go. however, they still protect a tree that consists of many honest and hard-working individuals from the greedy and evil grasps of management. if it werent for unions, management in this country would have all work environments be draconian-like and those who clamor for de-unionization would be the first to cry for their return.

anyway, back to the original subject, these POS should be ashamed of themselves! can they not take even a 30 minute break from behaving like animals?!?! it is a christmas tree lighting during what is supposed to be a joyous season and yet they still “have to keep it real.” the sad thing is about i bet it was over something as simple as a scuffed sneaker. pathetic.

Actually there are now gov’t entities which regulate just how draconian a work environment is allowed to be anymore. Unions in today’s day and age pull money from your pay, and do little for it’s members but drive manufacturing jobs not just south, but south of the border. Get any Reeses cups made in Mexico lately? I have. Unions push salaries to the breaking point until the company can no longer be competitive in the modern market and protect bad employees. See Hostess.See Hershey chocolate.
