Flyers President Peter Luukko Has Resigned

Voila_Capture714

This is totally unexpected. Comcast-Spectacor, the parent company that owns the Flyers, has announced that President and COO Peter Luukko has resigned from his position after 25 years with the company.

According to Frank Seravalli, Luukko wanted to “monetize his interest in the company” (read: sell his Comcast stock and become so much richer than you) and “pursue other entrepreneurial interests.”

Dave Scott, the former vice president at Comcast’s cable division, will serve as acting president.

The timing seems weird, because many assumed – most likely correctly – that Luukko was running the team on a day-to-day basis for Ed Snider.

And, of course, Tim Panaccio and Sam Carchidi managed to promote Scott to PRESIDENT OF ALL OF COMCAST:

Scott will be the president of Comcast-Spectacor, a subsidiary of Comcast. Big difference.

Homer has to be next. There is NO WAY he doesn’t “resign” at the end of the season.

He should. But why would he when the team is playing better? In large part to the Goalie acquisitions?

That doesn’t erase all the other fuck ups.

Any chance he’s cashing out now so that he is ready to buy/lead a group looking to buy once the Chairman is no longer vertical?

Hadn’t thought of that, but I can see it happening.

Which ex-Flyer has the most business acumen? He’s my pick to run Comcast-Spectacor since Ed Snider’s options are always limited exclusively to ex-Flyers. Maybe Kevin Dineen has earned a University of Phoenix MBA or theres always Rick Tocchet who has experience running an interstate sports gambling operation. Also Nick Luukko (Peter’s son) is dead meat and will surely be released by the Flyers.

Lukko was a douchebag. Good riddance to him! If he was running the team he did a shit job. He was a dick in person too.
