Besides trading up and drafting Johnny Manziel so they have the most poon-tastic quarterbacking duo since God knows when, I’m rooting, from a blogging standpoint, for the Eagles to draft Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, because I currently have a list of puns and t-shirt ideas three pages long. Oh, and because the Eagles need a safety to solidify their laughable secondary.

Geoff Mosher reports that Ha Ha would like to be an Eagle, no kidding:

Clinton-Dix (see bio), considered the elite safety prospect for the NFL draft, would happily embrace the pressure and expectations that would come if the Eagles picked him in the first round Thursday night.

He even sent a text message to Eagles director of player personnel Ed Marynowitz, a former Alabama football recruiter, to lobby for his friend to make it happen.

“He sent me an article and I was on the front of it, about going to Philly and what not,” Clinton-Dix said Wednesday at an NFL Play60 event in Manhattan involving the prospects invited to Radio City Music Hall. “I told him to tell them to come get me, please. Whatever it takes.”

That’s kind of a funny scenario to think about– a prospect pleading for a team to draft him. But the joke may be on Clinton-Dix, because he probably won’t be there at 22. The Eagles would likely have to move up to get him. Will they do it? Will Ha Ha laugh all the way to a Philadelphia bank? It would be a real riot if he did. And I imagine Chip Kelly would be grinning ear-to-ear. The Joker.

OK, I’m done.
