Football (kind of) officially returned this weekend as the Buffalo Bills faced off against the New York Giants in the Hall of Fame game. Obviously very impressed by the game the Giants were playing on the field, Cris Collinsworth told his broadcast partner Al Michaels that his pick for making the Super Bowl this year is the Eagles:
You know the team that I think will have a chance this year, is the Philadelphia Eagles. I just feel like Chip Kelly and what they did in that first year with that offense, I know they didn’t get it all in, and this year maybe a little bit more advanced Nick Foles. So I’m kind of keeping my eye on the Philadelphia Eagles.
I should mention that going into last year’s Super Bowl, Collinsworth was the only Inside the NFL guy to pick the exciting-offsense Broncos over the Seahwaks. But this is at least a sign that some commentators are going to have the Eagles’ back this year, and see Chip Kelly as a bonafide professional coach. It’ll be interesting to see how that all plays out, now that the Eagles are looked as as contenders instead of underdogs with a big question mark at QB and head coach. That is, until they look a little shaky and then it’s abandon-ship time. Collinsworth and Michaels also agreed they’d probably take Shady with the first overall fantasy football pick, once again confusing and angering Adrian Peterson.
