Mike Schmidt is getting rid of some things if you’ve got some extra cash lying around.

Goldin Auctions’ October Legends Auction will feature some trophies, game used items, and career memorabilia of Mike Schmidt. Along with the Gold Glove award up top, starting on October 6th, you can bid on:

  • Mike Schmidt’s Actual 1976 Babe Ruth “Sultan of Swat Award” Crown [Editor’s note: need this]

  • Mike Schmidt’s Actual 1986 Mel Ott Memorial Award Presented to and Personally Owned by Schmidt
  • Mike Schmidt’s 400th Home Run Game Used Bat
  • Mike Schmidt Philadelphia Phillies All-Time RBI Record Breaking Ball from Personal Collection

In addition to the items above, you’ll be able to bid on an All-Star ring, an All-American ring, and more, for a chance to own pieces of Phillies history. Really, it’s all about that crown though. Sure, it’s the “Sultan of Swat Award,” but you can pretend you’re the crown prince of  third base.

Also said to be up for auction is what remains of Michael Jack’s dignity.

  1. If I take that $.020 and invest it with compound interest in 30 years I’ll be able to pay for parking at an Eagles game

  2. I am waiting for the check he promised the Inquirer when he stiffed the charity from his so called charitable golf outing in the 1990’s to be auctioned off. This guy was Don Tollefson before Tollefson.

  3. Wow… Schmitty needs the cash?

Not surprising. I played golf with him decades ago and he was a cheap dick back then…

Speaking of Schmitty – according to urban dictionary, it is:

“Noun(n.)- a name to call someone who has been owned, insulted, or publicly humiliated; a term for someone who thinks they’re cool when they’re really a tool;”

  4. Dr J got broke investing into golf courses. Mike Schmidt must have done the same. Worst investments of all time. Dr J’s auction raised some decent money for him. I’m sure Mike’s will do the same for him. Naturally these players are embarrassed of the financial hardship they got themselves into so they say a portion will be donated to charity. If you are financially set you don’t sell off your awards. If you want to donate to charity you write a check. Let’s face it, when Mike played the paychecks weren’t hefty. If Mike was playing now he would probably have signed a 10 year $275 million contract. Mike was making about $2 million a year at his peak.

      1. There was an extensive article about Dr J written about the time he was selling off all his stuff.
He had gotten into bad financial straits from his investments. The Atlanta golf course he was involved with cost him millions and millions of dollars.

  5. kyle wishes he were the king of MY third base. and by that I mean motorboating my huge clit. it even has its own twitter. (clitter?)

  6. oh and I said Kyle instead of Jim because while we like to fun about Kyle being gay, Jim is ACTUALLY gay so that would be a hate crime.

  7. He’s made some bad investments. If you recall that hoagie chain he got involved in with some crook and the nightclub at 7th and market. He also likes to live a nice lifestyle he has to fund in Jupiter Fla. it’s pretty sad, but it is what it is.
