Nick Foles Says he Expects to be the Quarterback Next Year because What Else is he Supposed to Say

In the burning afterglow of the season, everyone is getting to say their piece. LeSean isn’t sure if they want him back, but he wants to come back. Trent Cole is willing to restructure his contract if that’s what it takes to stay. Nick Foles expects to be under center.

According to Eliot Shorr-Parks, Foles said “I expect to be back here, and I expect to be the quarterback.” But does he know what the people above him want? “I don’t know what they think,” Foles continued. “I have a lot to prove. As long as I play this game, I’ll have a lot to prove.” But a lot can happen between now and next season. There are contracts, free agents, the draft, etc. In that draft, Chip and Howie could go after a quarterback. And if they do? “They can draft whoever they want to,” Foles said. “I’m going to compete and I’m not going to shy away from that.”

If they do draft a quarterback this offseason, it wouldn’t be the first time the Eagles drafted a QB while Foles was on the roster, but it may be the first time they draft one to take his job. Really though, this is pretty standard year-end talk. What else could he have really said?

Oh. Well I guess that was always an option.
