Someone hit that man with a snowball.

I’ve spent the past 36 hours lamenting a loss to the goddamn Redskins and the past 12 hours or so trying to come to terms with the fact that we know the end date of one of the most fun Eagles seasons in a decade. There’s so much blame to go around for this one, but, at a high level, I think the problems were threefold:

1) Personnel

I could’ve just written Bradley Fletcher here and called it a day, but doing so would be disservice to Cary Williams, Nate Allen, Riley Cooper and Mark Sanchez. The Eagles were severely lacking in certain skill positions. Fletcher is, of course, the best example of this. He stinks and doesn’t even seem to care. What sealed it for me was the Packers game– not the fact that he got TORCHED by Jordy Nelson, but his Postgame Live interview with host of Gunn On One, Derrick Gunn. Fletcher had the mentality of a baseball player oblivious to the concerned line of questioning following one loss in a 162-game season. You can’t have that in football. There’s a difference between resilience and nonchalantededededness. Fletcher has the latter, and that sort of thing doesn’t mix well with backup-level talent.

And then there’s Sanchez, who, as predicted by Jet fans a few weeks ago, seems like he wants you to hate him. This has been a forgettable era in Eagles history, and given that six weeks ago I was making t-shirts to celebrate it… well, I’m ashamed. But he was only in there because of…

2) Injuries

… to Nick Foles. Say what you want about him, but when the quarterback of a team that went something like 12-3 over its last 15 regular season games goes down, there’s going to be a drop-off. It caught up with the Eagles.

3) The hump

The Seahawks game rocked them. Further, there comes a point when if you can’t get over the hump, you just fall back down it. Seahawks, Cardinals, 49ers, Packers… a clear line was established between those teams and the Eagles, and I think those losses took their toll on the team’s psyche. The Eagles weren’t the same the last two weeks.

Let’s hit it!

Here’s a scorching hot take:

Oh and two cops were killed in New York this weekend because a crazy guy took the turned up rhetoric of protestors seriously:

This is what happens when people walk through the streets of New York chanting What do we want? Dead cops! They may be just words, but some sick person out there takes them seriously and thinks he’s being a hero. This is what I meant when I asked if there was a better way.

This Roundup sucks. Is it Christmas yet?
