The long, painfully-unexciting search for Jamie Moyer’s replacement in the broadcast booth is Ben Davis. From the press release:
Comcast SportsNet announced today that former major league catcher Ben Davis is joining the Phillies broadcast team. Davis joins Tom McCarthy, Matt Stairs, Gregg Murphy and Mike Schmidt for broadcasts during the 2015 season. Davis will make his broadcasting debut during Comcast SportsNet’s first 2015 Spring Training telecast on Tuesday, March 3, at 1 p.m.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ben, a former major league catcher and Delaware County native, to our Phillies broadcast team,” said Comcast SportsNet President Brian Monihan. “Ben is a true student of the game and has provided valuable insight to our Phillies Pre and Postgame coverage. We are confident in Ben’s ability to inform and entertain fans with his distinctive analysis and easy-going style during our game broadcasts.”
Good for Ben. It’s a shame he’ll have to call such a shitty product.
Ryan Lawrence says Davis and Stairs will be on the same rotating schedule as Moyer and Stairs.
