Well there’s a fall from grace if I ever saw one.

Poor Mike. Three years ago he was the one who made out. He got sent to a contender in LA, ostensibly as one of the final pieces to put them over the top. He lobbied for Jeff Carter, whom, if you’ll recall, was viewed as more of Richards’ Robin than his Batman. It was Mike’s world, and Jeff was literally invited to live in it. Fast-forward a few years: Carter is the star, the Olympian, the indispensable forward, and it’s Richards who’s playing for the Manchester Monarchs and so disgruntled that he won’t even accept his earned invitation to be honored by the President at the White House.

Somewhere, Paul Holmgren sizes himself up in a mirror and gives a knowing smirk of approval, before returning to his Excel for Dummies course.

    1. Is that a hockey stick you’re holding or are you just happy to see me?

  1. I saw American sniper last night. I totally agree with Michael Moore and Seth rogan … I do not support the troops… And I love baseball and I’m gay.

  2. Well, he is Canadian afterall. He’s more likely to visit the president of Molson. Really who gives a shit about the obligatory Presidential meeting of Champions? Does anyone think Obama gives a crap about hockey or notice there’s no Mike Richards?

  3. So, Richards, a Canadian, declines to travel with the team that just put him on wavers and bumped him to the minors to meet the U.S. President? How is this news?

  4. I am sure the President was super-bummed that Richards did not show. Handouts to the undeserving and underperforming are Obama’s reason to get up in the morning.

  5. Hey Kyle, enough with the Mike Richards and Jeff Carter stories. If I wanted to read on what’s going on in L.A., I would follow a Kings Blog. We’re finally on a solid streak, write about that!
