The Language of Tanking: People Call Phil Jackson a Genius, Phil Jackson Admits He’s Failed

We know from hearing the hot takes of basketball minds and writers all across this country ’tis of thee that the Sixers are a disgrace for tanking but Phil Jackson’s Knicks are not because it is “a superior tank to the Sixers’ intentional tank.” But what does Jackson himself think of his Knicks? This Knick’s season is “like nothing I’ve seen before,” the superior-tanking genius said. “So far, my experiment has fallen flat on its face.”
But maybe he’s being too hard on himself. Is it really worse to try to win and totally fail than to start from scratch and evaluate your growing talent to build a solid base for the future? One of those plans is “superior,” but it’s not Jackson’s.
When he's not writing about sports here or ranting about them on Twitter, Jim is probably watching X-Files on Netflix or drinking a beer somewhere. Jim has nothing against hockey, it's just not his style. He once met Duce Staley at a Sixers game.
