Much was made about the Sam Bradford trade that doesn’t seem to be working out. Even more was made about the futile signing of Tim Tebow, who failed to make the roster. But Tebow wasn’t the only quarterback who wanted a chance to prove himself to the Eagles. Tyrod Taylor did too.

According to Ian Rapoport (via BGN), the hype-less former Ravens backup wanted a chance to play for Chip Kelly:

“One place he wanted to go, which featured an offense deemed perfect for him, was the Eagles. He asked the Eagles to consider him. However, they did not, eventually signing Tim Tebow instead.”

It’s truly unfair for us to pretend like anyone know how well Tyrod Taylor would be playing as the starter in Buffalo while he was a free agent, but let’s go ahead and be unfair. Let’s compare the numbers of Tyrod Taylor and Sam Bradford on the year so far (fully acknowledging that behind this offensive line, Taylor could be garbage):

Really, they’re pretty comparable. Taylor is much more mobile, but has still been sacked more. They’re close in yards, they have the same amount of interceptions, but Taylor has more touchdowns and a better QB rating. And this is in comparison to Sam Bradford. Compared to Tebow – who has N/A in all of those categories – it’s an easy call in hindsight, and hindsight really isn’t Chip’s friend this year.

Kyle: I won’t be the guy to point out the Taylor is black while Tebow is literally the whitest human being on the planet Earth. A hack would do that sort of thing. Shit.
