Did Chip Kelly Meet with USC or Merely Take Their Phone Call or Perhaps a Snap?
Football Scoop is reporting that USC “met with” Chip Kelly on Friday, while Ian Rapppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppopopopopoort* is using the phrase “reached out to.” So, which is it? Hard to tell, but there’s no evidence that USC brass were in town, though that doesn’t necessarily negate Football Scoop’s report. I’m inclined to believe it was a phone call, or Skype, or perhaps FaceTime or even a couple of Snapchats. Reports:

Along with Chip Kelly, #USC reached out to Jack Del Rio to gauge his interest. He said he was staying with #Raiders (as @timkawakami said)

I don’t know much, but I do know that Del Rio and his sweet, sweet shades would fit in perfectly at USC.
Tim McManus adds that the feeling in the building is that part of the Eagles’ struggles (read: quitting on the coach) stem from the thought that Chip might leave.
Separately, in my effort to now post every unsubstantiated rumor I receive, I had two separate people – one of whom I know, the other is a longtime reader – reach out to me and say that Chip and Lurie have a “mutual agreement” to part ways at the end of the season. That’s literally just rumor mongering on my part, but I did find it interesting that both used the exact same phrase– mutual agreement. Enjoy that nugget atop a large grain of kosher salt.
*Literally how I type Rappppppppppppppppopopopopopoport’s name:
