Four of the Phillies' Top Six Prospects Were Acquired This Year
For all of the shit we all talked on Ruben Amaro – most of it well-deserved – his last year here was actually a good one. Whether that was a last-ditch effort to save his job, or Andy MacPhail working over him, the Phillies ended up adding four of their now top-six prospects in the last year.
J.P. Crawford is still ranked number one, but Baseball America ranks the rest of them like this:
- J.P. Crawford
- Nick Williams (acquired from Rangers in Cole Hamels trade)
- Jake Thompson (acquired from Rangers in Cole Hamels trade)
- Andrew Knapp
- Jorge Alfaro (acquired from Rangers in Cole Hamels trade)
- Cornelius Randolph (drafted #10 overall)
- Franklyn Kilome
- Roman Quinn
- Adonis Medina
- Carlos Tocci
It might have taken forever, but in his last breaths as Phillies GM, Ruben (or a Middleton/Gillick/MacPhail/Ruben combo) finally did something right. And it earned him the glory of being an out of shape old man who has to wear a uniform for his job.
