Adam Schefter is already on-record as saying that, in November, some close to Chip felt he might seriously entertain coaching high school in New Hampshire for a little while. Schefter’s buddy, Chris Mortensen, writing in their combo column, reports:

As for Kelly, he has said he wants to remain in the NFL, but not everyone is confident that is the case. One source said that if the Navy job had come open, he just may have been intrigued. Don’t laugh. He enjoyed his obscure years at New Hampshire and he operated in relative obscurity from a media standpoint at Oregon, at least compared to day-to-day life in Philly. He’s not going to make money the factor that motivates him on his next journey, per sources.

Chip loves the military, so the Navy thing isn’t surprising. But honestly, who could blame him if he wanted to stay in his renovated, 2,300 square-foot coastal New England home with his 32-ish-year-old girlfriend and the $12.4 million he’s owed by the Eagles over the next two years? Fucking atop piles of money whilst the tide slaps against the green at the neighboring golf course sounds like a fine alternative to me.
