Marcus Smith Isn't "Ecstatic" about Chip's Firing Because He Used the Word Wrong
In all of the player responses to last night’s firing of Chip Kelly, one specifically stood out. Not Lane Johnson, no. Marcus Smith.
Smith, who was drafted by Howie Roseman and who has struggled to see snaps in his tenure with the Eagles, said he was “ecstatic” to see Chip Kelly fired. It was shocking, since even players who butt heads with coaches in their time don’t seem to celebrate or gloat when that coach is gone. But that’s just what Smith was doing, except he wasn’t.
As you can see in the tweet above Smith didn’t mean to say he was ecstatic, and that’s what can happen when you open your 2016 Word a Day calendar you got from Christmas early and start flipping through the pages.
To be fair to Marcus, he said he was getting a massage when it all happened, so maybe he was just so chill and refreshed and relaxed that joy spouted from his mouth. I’ll give him this one.
