Michael Nutter Is a Damn Genius for Going after Donald Trump
By Kyle Scott
Published:

Mayor Nutter, yesterday [from Philly Mag]:
During the news conference, though, the focus was almost exclusively on Trump, with Nutter calling the candidate an “asshole” and a “madman.” (All this, after earlier in the day suggesting he’d like to ban Trump from Philadelphia.)
“Donald Trump’s comments are a threat to the moral security of the United States of America,” he said. “This is fear-mongering that we have not seen literally since the 1930s and 40s. Donald Trump has taken a page from the playbook of Hitler: He has demonized a group, blamed a group for the country’s problems and then he seeks to ban or eliminate that group as some kind of solution to a problem that does not exist. This is a dangerous form of American radicalization.”
Donald Trump, today:
.@Mayor_Nutter of Philadelphia, who is doing a terrible job, should be ashamed for using such a disgusting word in referring to me.Low life!

"@mysteriousLoser: @realDonaldTrump did you hear the mayor nutter of philadelphias comments towards you? Ignorance" Yes, he is a crude dope!

Brilliant move by Nutter. Genius, actually. He knew Trump would respond. Nutter is crafting his post-Mayorial career and what better way to jack up speaking and appearance fees and buzz than by getting embroiled in a public pissing match with America’s headline generator. I can see it now: We want to welcome to Morning Joe former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, the man who once called Donald Trump an asshole. He is currently on the board of [inset ridiculous political organization] and is the author of the new book, “Crude Dope: Running The City That Doesn’t Always Love You Back.” Mr. Mayor, welcome.
Nutter is in full don’t-give-a-shit mode right now, a space Trump perpetually occupies, so this could drag on for a while. Fine by me.
…
It’s worth noting, however, that Trump (intentionally?) tagged the wrong person on Twitter, while still making it obvious who he was responding to, a move that will cost Nutter thousands of potential followers. DAMN YOU, TRUMP! YOU WIN AGAIN!
