On Sunday, Chip Kelly called the report that he called Shady and got hung up on “shit that didn’t happen.” I really can’t wait to see what he says about this one: According to Adam Caplan, Chip and DeMarco Murray had a “lengthy meeting” this week, though “no assurances were given in regard to Murray’s role for the rest of the season.” I imagine it was Chip showing DeMarco film and saying “this is where you went wrong,” and DeMarco showing Chip his contract and saying “this is where you went wrong.”

Fast forward to Chip’s post-game press conference on Sunday night, addressing Murray’s slightly increased role:

“I don’t know where these reports come from. They’re all nonsense. Duce decides which running backs are in on which sets. I don’t even meet with my players. I’ve never had a one-on-one meeting with a player, once. I only really know them by jersey number.”

Honestly, it’s good that Chip (finally) sat down with Murray to hash out whatever is going on there, and it’s also good that he didn’t make any promises to the guy that he could potentially break in the future. What’s bad is that he got him here in the first place.
