According to Adam Schefter, teams who have “looked hard” at Johnny Manziel and might “roll the dice on him” include the Rams, Cowboys, 49ers … and then Chip Kelly added on for a little extra oompf. What does this mean? Not much, unless you get really hyped about a second or third-string quarterback candidate. Kyle is still a little salty the Eagles didn’t draft Johnny – for pure blogging purposes, not football-fan reasons – but they could have. Chip decided not to. Plus, the Rams and 49ers (and the Cowboys if you go behind the injury-riddled Tony Romo) actually have a little more need for a backup. But don’t get it backwards: Manziel is not good.

But here’s the interesting part: The report says Chip Kelly, not “the Eagles,” would be interested in Manziel. Is that because Chip’s name gets more play than saying Eagles? Probably. But Schefter, who isn’t convinced Chip will be here next year (though it wasn’t a report, just a thought), may be hinting that if Chip ends up basically anywhere other than Tennessee, Manziel might be on his radar.

Am I reading way too much into this? Yes. Is there anything else to do around this team? Not really. Can’t wait for Sunday.
