Joe Banner Says the NFL Lockout Stopped the Eagles from Getting Patrick Peterson

On today’s NFL Insiders, Joe Banner tore into your chest and went full Kali Ma on your emotions by telling you the Eagles were this close to having one of the game’s best defensive players:

“When we were in Philadelphia, we traded Kevin Kolb to the Arizona Cardinals for Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second-round draft pick. The original trade was the fifth pick of the draft – which we were targeting Patrick Peterson for – and the second round pick the next year. Because there was a lockout, we weren’t allowed to make trades going into the draft or else Patrick Peterson would have been a Philadelphia Eagle.”

The audio of Banner’s story is around the 17:20 mark here. And, the way Joe tells it, the Eagles wouldn’t have even given up their first rounder from 2011 in exchange. In such a stacked draft, that means the Eagles could have walked out with Patrick Peterson AND their own pick, Eagles legend Danny Watkins. Oh, what could have been.

    1. As of late I’d have to agree…….i cannot stand that airhead Haddad. Mr. Hot take machine should be doing the show with Beavis and butthead

      1. The guy is nearly 49 years of age, and tries desperately to act like he’s 26.

What’s with these middle-aged sports talk guys like Brian Hadad and Mike Missanelli, trying to recapture their youth because they listen to the latest alt/rock music, and say a few catch phrases that they overheard hipsters half their age use.

Talk about going through a midlife crisis.

          1. Brian “I played high school basketball” Hadad, the Al Bundy of sports talk radio. Love how he tells stories and talks like he is actually cool, but we all know he is a just a big nerd.

  2. I’m going to go ahead and call bullshit on this, nobody was giving up the 5th overall pick in a ridiculously stacked draft for Kevin fuckin Kolb even with hindsight being what it is. That would be like the Dallas Cowboys giving up their #4 pick this year for Brock Osweiler or AJ McCarron

Shut your mouth you little lying gerbil!

  3. they probably would have blown the pick anyway. didn’t he trade up to get Brandon Graham and leave All Pro Safety Earl Thomas on the board for Seattle?

  4. what does this mean for anything?
    it MEANS FUCKING NOTHING…………….
what if joe banner wouldn’t have flushed his junk down the toilet at the novacare center in 2007.
The eagles would have won 3 super bowls………blah blah blah……………
