Watch as President Obama, an ostensible Blackhawks fan from Chicago… reads… about… def…ense…man Kimmo Timonen:

Obama: Kimmo already had a great career before last season. He’d already been to Stanley Cup final, and Olympic final, a World Championship final. He’d lost them all. [Laughter] Just telling the truth.

Kimmo: Thank you, thank you.

Obama: In August he was diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs and his calf. He wasn’t even sure he would play again. He was traded to Chicago mid-season, he fought back on the ice. His final NHL game, at the age of 40, Kimmo finally hoisted the Stanley Cup. That, first of all as an old guy, makes me feel good. But it’s also the sign of a great career and somebody who has been able to stick with it, consistently contribute, and make a huge difference.”

Almost like a Flyers Cup win.
