When the Thunder went up 3-1 on the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals, it seemed any chance of Kevin Durant leaving Oklahoma City in free agency had gone out the window. After last night’s Game 7 win by Warriors sent OKC packing, however… well, the narrative has changed. Will Durant leave? If he does, where will he go? He’s got plenty of options, but as you can see above, Joel Embiid has a suggestion.

It’s not the first time JoJo’s played recruiter. Two years ago, he tried to lure LeBron, which he considers a near get:

Fun fact: This is technically tampering. When Embiid tweeted about LeBron, the latter was a free agent. KD is still under contract until the start of free agency in July, and this definitely falls under the definition of “directly or indirectly (i) entice, induce, or persuade, or attempt to entice, induce or persuade, any player, coach, GM or other person under contract to any other NBA team to enter into negotiations for or relating to that person’s services or to negotiate or contract for such services, or (ii) otherwise interfere with the employment relationship between that employee and the other NBA team.” The question is: Will anyone care enough about a Joel Embiid Tweet to cause a ruckus about it? One tampering punishment (seemingly reserved for non-players) is “prohibition of the offending team from hiring the person being tampered with,” so JoJo could have just sealed KD not coming to Philly, and that will definitely be the only reason Durant is not here next year.
