The Phillies somehow got back into the game last night against the much better Cubs. That led to a Ryan Howard pinch-hit appearance in the bottom of the ninth with Howard serving as the tying run. It was Howard’s first at-bat since an jack F threw a beer bottle at him and as expected fans gave the longtime Phillie a roaring round of applause:

Sometimes people just don’t understand Philly. This is how we really feel about Ryan Howard… we’re just allowed to hate the current iteration of him on this particularly team.

Meanwhile, Marcus Hayes says YOU DESERVE IT:

This is exhausting, right? Some Philly fan acts idiotic. We revisit the history. The diatribes descend and the defenders bristle and nothing comes from it.

It happened again, and it will happen again and again and again. Why?

Because we let it. You let it.

Yes, this from the same guy who wrote in 2010 that Philly fans liked Chase Utley more because he is white.

Howard grounded out on the first pitch.
