This morning, Dario Saric’s agent confirmed what is now fact: Dario will sign with the Sixers. In fact, he’ll arrive today:

Yesterday, CSN’s Jessica Camerato and “Euro Woj” David Pick reported a buyout with Anadolu Efes was in the works, and Pick reported it was for a million euros. That’s $1,113,350. But the Sixers can’t pay all of that. From the CBA FAQ (which is fantastic):

A buyout to an international team or organization is the only form of signing bonus allowed in a rookie scale contract… Loans are not permitted with rookie scale contracts…

NBA teams are allowed to pay up to the Excluded International Player Payment Amount [for a buyout], and this amount is not charged to the team salary. Any amount above the Excluded International Player Payment Amount comes out of the player’s (after-tax) salary, and therefore is included in the team’s team salary.

So not only did Dario Saric leave possibly millions and millions on the table by coming to the Sixers this year, as he promised, he’s also gotta pay out of his salary his portion of the buyout. This year’s excluded amount is $650,000, leaving Saric to pay $463,350 out of his salary just for the privilege of playing for the Sixers.

So the next time someone blasts him for being a flip-flopper or not knowing what he wants, remind them that Saric paid $463,350 to come play for the Sixers.
