Angelo Cataldi With Yet Another Dumb Take
I’m totally baffled by this. I never really considered Angelo Cataldi a troll. Sure, he has loud and sometimes antiquated opinions, and he knows what sort of incisiveness will generate discussion, but I always sort of believed that he believed what he was saying or doing. But I can’t for the life of me understand how an otherwise smart guy – who used to be a very good sports writer – can’t grasp simple logic and understand 1) how the Sam Bradford trade was a good one (for both teams, it seems) and 2) why this Tweet is seriously one of the dumbest things of all-time.
This is not a great time for The Process. Literal days before things began to take shape, Ben Simmons goes down with a broken foot that might force him to miss the entire season. Though they have Embiid and Saric on the floor, the Sixers will be stuck in neutral yet again this season. But that doesn’t have anything to do with the excitement surrounding Embiid, who by all accounts is healthy and looked good in his very limited minutes last night. To draw any sort of opinion other than “Yeah, he looked pretty good” is completely asinine. I know I’m taking the bait here, but this is the sort of negative nonsense that has tainted the Philly sports culture for decades. This is the stuff of the 90s, where personalities were bigger than the game and Philly had a reputation for being a bunch of boorish numbskulls to defend. I feel like the joke’s on me if I go any further and actually try to explain my stance.
Incredibly, when looking for replies, I realized that actual idiots agreed with him:

I am also underwhelmed. Turned the game off before end of first Q. And I was so looking forward to this season!
