One NFL Executive Thinks Trump Will Make Football Great Again
We’re fucked.
I shat you not, but one NFL executive told Mike Freeman that, I can’t believe I’m about to write this, President Obama made us too smart and that a country under Trump will care less about silly little facts like CTE and such:
The presidency of Donald Trump is good news for the NFL, according to a team executive with whom B/R spoke. Why? The theory is interesting, and a little bit out there.
Here goes: “Under President [Barack] Obama, the country was intellectual and looked at facts. I think that’s why our ratings fell. People read a lot about our scandals or CTE and didn’t like what they saw. Under Trump, the country will care less about truth or facts. It’ll be [more raw] and brutal. Football will be more of an outlet. We’ll go back to liking our violent sports.”
If football’s argument against sinking ratings is… people need to be dumber to like our product… that… that’s… not a good marketing pitch. Of course, openly rooting for the president to make us dumber might be the real problem with that statement.
