We went through a process and gathered information and ultimately decided this was the right thing to do. That’s essentially what Howie Roseman said during his press conference discussing why the Eagles released Josh Huff.

There were 11 references to “process,” 6 to “gathering information,” and 11 to “right thing to do.”

The Eagles look like big ol’ hypocrites given the fact that Nigel Bradham’s beatdown of a pool boy and subsequent gun mistake seem way worse than Huff’s relatively tame idiocy (even if it could create huge legal problems for him in New Jersey). Worse, Roseman no-commented his way through the 8:20 press conference, repeatedly citing the “process” the Eagles go through when something like this happens. Meanwhile, they sent Doug Pederson out there yesterday to say Huff would play on Sunday:

If this doesn’t make you realize that Pederson, who is ill-equipped to deal with this topic, is a puppet, I don’t know what does. The Eagles lead the league in “information gathering,” often taking way longer than is necessary to make decisions, from hiring a coach to cutting a player, and they tend to make themselves look foolish along the way. Either their research revealed some unknown fact about the case that they’ll let percolate through innuendo – like they did with DeSean Jaccson – or, more likely, they determined that the situation was too sticky to deal with for a guy who is ultimately a special teams player. So, they made a decision and cited a bunch of vagaries to explain why it was the exact opposite of what they said one day earlier.
