Brent Musberger weirdly explained away Joe Mixon punching a girl on video the following way during the Sugar Bowl last night:

After getting GLOBS of Twitter feedback, it seems Old Man Mussy was forced to issue an on-air clarification, which he was not happy about:

If you’ve read this site long enough, you know that I’m not an overly sensitive libtard who gets bent out of shape over every off-color remark or comment the way just about everyone else with a #blog does online. People make mistakes, say dumb things, and we all need to lighten up searching for the next gotcha moment to get someone fired. But Jesus Christ Brent Musberger sounds like a huge asshole here. The issue isn’t wishing Mixon well on his second chance – hey, if he doesn’t Rhonda Rousey any other women for the rest of his life and uses this as a way to speak out against it, even better – it’s Musberger viewing this through the lens of the college football machine and making it all about Mixon and how Bob Stoops, molder of men, was going to make it all better. He took a nasty assault and didn’t even use it as a redemption story for Mixon. Rather, he made Mixon the victim– “the young man is doing fine.” Ew. Gross. You’re gross Brent. His clarification may have made it worse. Just when you thought he was going to develop a conscious, saying “what he did with that young lady was brutal, uncalled for,” he pivots to double down on wishing Mixon well. It’s all OK because Mixon apologized, like he fucking spilled champagne on a fine linen. There’s a huge difference between wishing that Mixon moves on, doesn’t do this again, and has a successful career – all things that are totally fine – and completely glossing over the fact that he did something really heinous and is anything but the victim here. Musberger made it an Oklahoma football incident and not a he fucking popped a girl in the face incident in a way that would’ve been creepy if it wasn’t so callous.

But hey, at least the Oklahoma football players are taking it seriously:
