Scott O'Neil Talks Business, Christian Crosby Gets A Big Gig, and Wet Floors
Scott O’Neill
Scott O’Neil spoke to Aaron Task of Fortune Magazine (of course he did) for their FORTUNE Unfiltered podcast (of course he did) about the Prudential Center, the Sixers, and more. He said of his last few years that “there’s two things you can sell: winning and hope. And we’ve had a ton of hope.” According to O’Neil, since the start of the Process, season tickets and sponsorship have tripled. Whenever this was recorded, O’Neil said it looks like Simmons “will be back in January.” They got one more day. You can listen to the whole thing here.
Mic Drops
One of the things the Sixers do really, really well is run an in-arena game. From watching NBA League Pass games you come to learn that there are a lot of teams around the league whose fan experience is second-rate. Their games are boring, the soundtrack is lame, and the in-arena hosts have no charisma. At the very least, the Sixers have that last one covered. Christian Crosby is – and I say this with confidence having seen a good chunk of the league’s hosts – one of the absolute best in the business. And the NBA has taken notice: Crosby will be hosting for the NBA during All-Star weekend. It’s not entirely clear if he’ll be the only host, or if he’ll do All-Star Game hosting or Friday/Saturday night mic work, but it’s a great opportunity for a guy who has earned it.
Start time
The Sixers-Kings game tonight will start at 6PM. It’s the make up game from when the Sixers just couldn’t get the Wells Fargo Center floor dry. Talking about it also gives us an excuse to post this again:

Look at that wet hand.
