The Sixers and Celtics Will Reportedly Play in London Next Year

There were two reports last night that the Sixers and Celtics will play a regular season game in London next year (Sixers home game…).

The Boston Herald reported that the two teams will play on January 11 at the O2 Arena. Keith Pompey seemingly confirmed the report, but said that the league hasn’t confirmed it.

This is such a Joshua Harris move it’s not even funny. He owns the EPL club Crystal Palace (also in London), so obviously there’s some synergies there. Giving up a home game sucks, but I actually don’t hate this at all. The NBA continues to grow its global presence and it says A LOT about the Sixers’ marketability – both the team and their players – that they will get featured in London against the Celtics. Granted, true contenders like the Warriors and Cavs may not want to incur the travel toll and give up a home game for such an event, but still, the fact that the Sixers will be a part of this is cool.

The NBA has held games in London before. They’ve played six regular season games there, and the Celtics themselves played a preseason game at the O2 Arena in 2007.

Anyway, the Circle of Trust is heading to London.

  • William Rhodes July 13, 2017 at 10:20 am

Nothing on Lebron showing up last night in Vegas to see the Sixers?

  • schweddy Balls July 13, 2017 at 10:20 am

    • Joe Paterno July 13, 2017 at 12:40 pm

      Tell me about it.

  • MCW July 13, 2017 at 10:26 am

Please bring MCW back to the 97.5 morning show!

She added flavor and a counter to the macho meats on the show.

Lets start a petition for the return of MCW! The show has not been the same since she left.

Even Gargano seems a little down since the firing and has lost some of his on air energy.

    Everyone agree?

How will the Sixers pay back season ticket holders for the missed game? Josh Harris flying us all out to London to catch the game?

  • Fire Da Cuz July 13, 2017 at 10:27 am

I’m shocked Fat Gargano is getting rolled in the morning ratings. Who knew doing 0 prep work, ripping off other shows shticks, and getting angry and hanging up on anyone who dared disagree wasn’t a formula for success. The guy is a joke. His show is a joke. The whole station is a joke. I mean what kind of radio station cant hire a full time co-host? He stabs every co host he has in the back.

Ant is not a solo host…he worked well with Rob E because they were such opposites that they balanced each other out. Ant as a solo host is annoying as hell, and I used to like him on WIP, but now he is hard to listen to. Eyton is not credible enough to share the top billing, and Baldy, who isn’t terrible, is a one trick pony, so, when the Eagles aren’t playing, he’s useless. So, hard for me to admit, I have been listening more to the Angelo clown show more that Ant. I do listen more to the Mike and Mike show on AM. At least it’s not hey, is Carson too religious, or hey, where do you see the Eagles record this year, or snide sixers remarks regarding the tank…..

      • Ron Bowman is a dumb ape July 13, 2017 at 11:18 am

You can tell he is under pressure to perform by how quick to anger he has become with co host and callers. He is becoming more and more of a cartoon character. I used to like the show but it is getting pretty bad. Cataldi sucks but he sort of knows he is a joke while Garagano actually thinks people take him seriously. Also why does he always have to travel to destinations for the show? Your ratings suck the station isn’t paying to send you anywhere.

  • Jacksonville Jaguars July 13, 2017 at 10:56 am

Are super popular, that’s why the NFL sends them to London every year. LOL Kyle great post.

  • Mps916 July 13, 2017 at 10:57 am

strange pick to send a team to a county named after basically a declaration of war against said country…ah fuck it, who can’t love this team

Still no mention of McGregor Mayweather???

Let me just give you Kyle’s super lame take for him …. The fight is stupid. The fight is a gimmick. Mayweather will kill him.

  • Ryan July 13, 2017 at 12:39 pm

So what happens with my season tickets? Do I just lose a game and have to pay for them anyway? Do I get a ticket to the game in London that I can sell on StubHub? Do i get refunded one game? Doubt it.

    • Scott O'Neill July 13, 2017 at 1:12 pm

Don’t worry. We’ve taken care of booking a flight to London and hotel accommodations for you, and we’ll just add it to your ticket bill. Nothing like lining Josh Harris’s pockets with more money so he can go buy players for the Devils.

  • Imagine my shock July 13, 2017 at 12:47 pm

How about that a sixers article

  • Josh by Gosh July 13, 2017 at 2:18 pm

They are going to London, because they are not going to Harrisburg, Allentown, Trenton, Hershey, Pittsburgh or Wilkes-Barre for the game. Providence, Hartford, Mohegan Sun, Syracuse, and A.C. Newark, NJ and Newark, DE
    were ruled out as well.

  • Ball > Fultz July 13, 2017 at 2:42 pm

How come no news on how bad Lonzo Ball has been? Oh , that’s right cause he’s crushing it right now, followed up that triple double with a 36-11-8 line. How’s Fultz’s stats looking? Crossing Broad is a joke!!!

    • I told you guys July 13, 2017 at 2:52 pm

that we made a huge mistake taking fultz over ball. It was evident when fultz was on stage at the draft throwing out gang signs.
