HOLY SHIT THE EAGLES TRADED FOR JAY AJAYI

That sound you hear is Howie Roseman slamming his metaphorical wang on the table, firmly, and with great aplomb.

Reports:

Mind has been blown.

On Sunday it came out that the Eagles had inquired about trading for retired Calvin Johnson with the Lions. Yesterday, we heard – along with other reports – that the Eagles had placed a call about Frank Gore.

Today they traded for Jay Ajayi– the high upside, if inconsistent, running back on a dreadful Dolphins team.

Ajayi has struggled this season after bursting onto the scene last year. He has only 465 yards, averaging just 3.4 yards per carry and no touchdowns. He is an explosive runner who has not snapped off one this season (his long is 21 yards). But paired with LeGarrette Blount, more of a bruiser, the Eagles have a potentially nasty 1-2 punch. With Wendell Smallwood barely getting any carries this weekend, you have to wonder if the Eagles were somewhat down on him or if he still had lingering pain from a knee injury. Either way, Ajayi just took that role.

  1. I leave for Blizzcon tomorrow and this shit happens.

How am I supposed to Chip with that going on Doug?

    1. Jay Ajayi can block better than the “current” eagles RB’s can.
Some current RB will obviously be moved.
      I wonder which one……….??

      1. They have an open roster spot with Hicks going on IR. I would be surprised if they move any of the backs they have, unless someone is hurt.

    2. THE FUTURE IS NOW! THE SUPER BOWL PARADE IS GOING TO BE AWESOME. I ALREADY HAVE A COUPLE OF CASES OF BUDWEISER IN MY GARAGE GETTING COLD. E-A-G-L-E-S!

  2. Getting a back that averaged nearly 5 yards a carry who’s having a down year due to a really shitty line who can also pass protect for the price of a 4th round pick (Mack Hollins/Jaylen Watkins/Matt Barkley/Brandon Boykin/Casey Matthews/Alex Henery/Trevard Lindley/Keenan Clayton/Mike Kafka/Clay Harbor are the 4th round picks since the 2010 draft)? Howie deserves a good felating after this.

  3. We don’t. Also Eagles had three fourth rounders and I was hoping that they would take two of them to get into third round if they saw a player they liked,
Jay’s knees are pretty much shot. Bone on bone due when he entered draft and taken as a 5th rounder. Still wished they would have traded for a linebacker or add some depth to OL with Big V’s ability still up in the air. Howie is going to have to do some real magic to retain players who were on one year deals like Jernigan, Blount, Jeffrey. No money to sign free agents and very few draft picks. He’s going to have to take the first rounder and turn it into a second and third.

    1. Did you even look at the money ajayi is getting paid? it’s peanuts for the next 2 years. the value for that pick is incredible. If he bounces back then they don’t have to pay him until 2018. If he’s horrible or gets hurt then he’s about 350k of dead cap money to release and only a 700k base (roundabouts) for a starting RB. They have Blount and Ajayi for a TOTAL of under 2 million dollars a year.

      1. Yea, it’s a solid trade. The risk is worth it and they have 2 other 4th round picks. How many of those actually turn into anything?
