That sound you hear is Howie Roseman slamming his metaphorical wang on the table, firmly, and with great aplomb.

Reports:

Mind has been blown.

On Sunday it came out that the Eagles had inquired about trading for retired Calvin Johnson with the Lions. Yesterday, we heard – along with other reports – that the Eagles had placed a call about Frank Gore.

Today they traded for Jay Ajayi– the high upside, if inconsistent, running back on a dreadful Dolphins team.

Ajayi has struggled this season after bursting onto the scene last year. He has only 465 yards, averaging just 3.4 yards per carry and no touchdowns. He is an explosive runner who has not snapped off one this season (his long is 21 yards). But paired with LeGarrette Blount, more of a bruiser, the Eagles have a potentially nasty 1-2 punch. With Wendell Smallwood barely getting any carries this weekend, you have to wonder if the Eagles were somewhat down on him or if he still had lingering pain from a knee injury. Either way, Ajayi just took that role.
