Sal Pal decided to ride along with head coach Doug Pederson for his police escort to the Linc today. Dougie P’s got a nice looking Range Rover as well.

Video after the jump.

Here are some of the highlights:

Sal Pal: What goes through your mind when you’re on your way to the stadium? What’s the checklist in a head coach’s mind?

Doug: First thing is not to hit the police officer on the way. We don’t want to do that. You know really, I open up those curtains in the morning. I check out the weather, I want to see what the weather is going to do. We knew going in that this game might have a little rain early in the morning, but it should be out of here…And then I kind of mentally prepare. Go back through my openers, go back through some of the game situations that we’ve talked about during the week, and really begin to sort of dial down and get that focus towards kickoff.

Sal Pal: You ever allow yourself the joy of as you’re riding into the stadium ‘hey, we’re 3-1, we lead the division, so let’s go play football?’

Doug: I do, and I have to kind of stop and just sort of catch myself or pinch myself and say ‘listen, we’re in a great situation. We are 3-1.’ And you have to enjoy these moments and if you don’t, you’re going to worry yourself to death…These are big opportunities for our team and for our city.

I’m not that surprised by his morning routine. The weather usually helps set an early game plan anyways, followed by going over any last minute notes.

This is a big opportunity for the team, as improving to 4-1 against an injury-ridden Cardinals team would be great motivation entering Thursday night’s meeting against the Panthers on the road.
