Doug Pederson said on Tuesday that the second-year receiver wouldn’t play tonight.

Now he’s going to miss quite some time:

Hollins had offseason sports hernia surgery. Pederson said he suffered a preseason setback not related to the surgery, which leads us to this point.

He joins tight end Richard Rodgers on IR, which puts the Eagles in a bind if they’re handed another long term injury. NFL teams can take two players off IR this season, so if someone else goes down, they’d need to decide what to do with the pair already on the shelf.

Nigel Bradham will be able to take Hollins’ roster spot tomorrow morning, so the Birds can add the suspended linebacker without making a corresponding move.

Looks like Shelton Gibson is going to have to step it up big time in these first few weeks.
