The Eagles lost their first game in 2018.

The reason: Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Tampa Bay offense.

Fitzmagic struck on the first play of the game when he hit Eagle killer DeSean Jackson for a 75-yard touchdown bomb. The tone was set and the Bucs beat the Birds by six.

They have plenty of work to clean up, which Kevin will go in to in his takeaways post, but they might get some help very soon. Per Adam Schefter, Carson Wentz is on track to start next week against the Colts.

That helps, but there are still questions elsewhere, especially at wide receiver with Mike Wallace possibly out for some time. Paging Josh Gordon or Dez Bryant?

Doug will talk more later today about Wentz and the game. But for now, we’ll leave you with this beauty:

The Roundup:

Start your Monday off with a brand new episode of the Crossing Broadcast.

The Phillies are still playing baseball for the next two weeks. And they looked pretty good this weekend against the Marlins.

Aaron Altherr hit two home runs in a 14-2 drubbing of the Florida fish. On Saturday, Gabe Kapler emptied his bullpen in favor of wins (which I like), and edged the Marlins by one in a 5-4 game. That’s the new-school approach from Kapler and GM Matt Klentak.

But Sunday was a little different with a 6-4 loss. It was an opportunity to trim some of the NL East margin from their current 6 1/2 games. They’re also five games back in the Wild Card, but that doesn’t seem likely.

The homestretch begins tonight at the ballpark against the Mets at 7:05 PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia. Jake Arrieta will get the start.

The Flyers preseason began Sunday afternoon! They lost to the Islanders 3-0 in a game filled with a ton of youngsters. But defenseman Travis Sanheim got hurt too. There’ll be an update on him later today.

NBC Sports Philadelphia also informed Chris Therien he won’t be part of the team’s TV telecasts this year.

The Orange and Black will host the Islanders tonight at 7 PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia +. They’ll play the Isles again tomorrow in New York as well.

JJ Redick admitted he almost signed with another team during free agency.

With Migos and Drake in Philly this weekend, they stopped by Camden with Meek Mill to meet the Sixers.

The Union fell to the Montreal Impact 4-1 Saturday night. They’ll play the Sounders in Seattle on Wednesday.

The team did sign forward Kacper Przybylko for the rest of the year.

With Anthony Russo starting, Temple defeated Maryland 35-14 for their first win of the season. They’re back in action on Thursday at home against Tulsa.

In other sports news, Week 2 of the NFL season was fun.

Bills cornerback Vontae Davis retired at halftime of his team’s game against the Chargers.

Dwyane Wade will play one more season with the Miami Heat.

Jemele Hill‘s run with ESPN is over.

In the news, Hurricane Florence left her mark on the Carolinas.

There was a police shooting outside AT&T Stadium last night.
