Why Kendall Jenner is Actually Good for the Sixers

Investor Jeff pointed out the other night that he’s surprised by how much time Kendall Jenner spends in Philadelphia.

It’s a good observation.

She was cheering on Ben Simmons and the Sixers Monday night at the Wells Fargo Center, braving temperatures that I’m pretty sure reached single digits. And by “braving,” I mean she was probably dropped off at the back door in a private car.

Still, this is a Southern California super model and Hollywood celebrity we’re talking about, someone who could have flown back to Los Angeles on a whim, where the temperature today is… lemme check… 67 degrees and sunny.

But nah, she’s in Philly. She’s always in Philly. She’s sitting next to Simmons’ mom, cheering on her guy, eating at our restaurants, hanging out in cold and crappy Philadelphia in January. She even seems to actually care who wins the game.

Not sure about you, but I think this looks like a woman who wants to see your team, your town, your 76ers get that W:

Is Kendall one of us? Maybe she’s tougher than we thought.

She’s certainly a good luck charm. You might remember that petition that was going around a while back, the one that demanded her permanent expulsion from the Wells Fargo Center after the Cavaliers loss and spawned a ridiculous piece of myopic drivel at Philly.com. Our sports fans aren’t exactly Hollywood types, and some are even skeptical of California natives, as evidenced by some of the ridiculous prior assertions that World Series MVP Cole Hamels was “soft” because he was from San Diego. Remember that crap from 2009? I do.

But the fact of the matter is that the Sixers are 10-2 with Kendall Jenner in attendance. That statistic courtesy of Jamie Lynch, aka “The Bro,” over at 97.5 the Fanatic:

Yep. That’s the fact, Jack.

The Sixers have an 83.3 winning percentage when Kendall is in town, and I could really just end the story right there.

However, another thing to think about is this, which was pointed out by Twitter user Leonard:

We’re talking about a Hollywood ultra-celebrity. She’s got Paparazzi following her all around Los Angeles and she would be absolutely mobbed in New York City. I’m not sure anybody other than Hugh E. Dillon actually gives a shit what she does in Philadelphia, and while you see the occasional tabloid garbage pop up here and there, it’s rather benign, isn’t it? Are people shoving cameras in the faces of Bendall while they do whatever they do? There certainly aren’t TMZ jabroni mobs rolling around Philly.

For example, there was a story about Kendall and Ben going ice skating back in December, complete with a 30 second video clip. Everybody else at the rink just leaves them alone:

Truly, we had it backwards this entire time. Not only is Kendall Jenner statistically good for the Sixers, she may actually be one of us. She might be a hard working, blue collar, lunch-pail carrying Philadelphia type of woman.

    1. And Joel says I got to take a leak and Ben says I do too. They stop on the bridge and as they are relieving themselves Ben says the river is cold and Joel says it’s deep too.

  1. Congrats on the SEO related page views, Kevin.

Only joking (kind of). This doesn’t really matter at this point since it hasn’t seemed to have any negative effect. Kendall seems like the least surgically modified Kardashian so kudos to her there? It’s possible she enjoys Philly because she’s spent so many years being harassed by paparazzi. Honestly the longer she hangs around the city and Sixers games without any dramatic, distracting headlines the more she’ll be accepted as “one of us.” So, whatever I guess.

    1. But does she really care what some foolish petition people think of her, they have no say in where she goes and even the team co-owner called these petition people ridiculous. A rich beautiful, famous woman versus some keyboard warrior, who do you think will win?
If the team owners wanted she could be in a suite away from the public view but they want her front and center, then later they take her and Ben to dinner at the club, drama/dramatics makes money for the owners.

  2. I got it so instead of the Rocky clip we cut to Kendall as Adrian saying “Ben i just need you to do one thing for me…Win!”

  3. Only issue I can see here is that as they get closer as a couple and as the Sixers get better, the other more toxic sisters start hanging around. Kountey and Kim look like they smell bad.

    1. I don’t think this gonna happen. They got their own businesses. Kendall in philly is like she taking time out from them. That’s what i see.

    2. Maybe when she leaves she will take Ben with her, so the problem of the toxic sisters coming to Philly won’t be a problem. It would be cheaper for her (private jets each time) to have Ben with the Lakers/Clippers.

  4. Will be tugging him by his collar all the way to LA to unite with his “brother” LeBron soon enough.

  5. Stats? It’s basketball. Ups and downs. If they win the team played good. It’s not on her. Is it? You call motivation? Still nobody cares? Simmons played like a noob against rockets. Why that?

    1. That’s a good argument Jeremy, yer right if they win it’s not her, so let’s not have this foolish superstition that the Kardashians or Jenners are bad luck for the Sixers or any team, No trying to blame her when Sixers lose, it’s just stats.
