Emotional Jay Wright on Phil Martelli’s Firing

I don’t know what this is. I didn’t know Mike Shh-shef-sky hosted a radio show on Sirius XM.

But here we are, with Villanova head coach and Kyle Scott man-crush Jay Wright hopping on “Basketball and Beyond with Coach K.” Wright was a bit choked up talking about the departure of Big Five brother Phil Martelli from St. Joe’s:

“I’m really shocked.”

Well, I think it was time for new blood. That’s my opinion as an outsider.

FYI Jay Wright was 14-4 against Phil Martelli and won seven Holy War games in a row.

Phil lost by 20+ the last five years to Jay. It was a disgrace I’m sure Jay is relieved in the hopes they can elevate the program to be more in line with Temple so they don’t weaken their preseason schedule by playing an RPI team that is 150+ in the name of tradition.

Thoughts and prayers to the local coaching community. They really do care for each other. 🙁

Coach K has had a show for like 15 years. Get a clue.
