Josh Innes Was Let Go Again

Josh fighting with another host at the Super Bowl

Former WIP afternoon host Josh Innes was let go from another radio station, this time SportsTalk 790 in Houston:

At first glance, it would appear Innes didn’t do anything to sabotage himself at the end of his most recent sports radio run:

That’s not to say he stayed out of trouble during his time with SportsTalk 790. From the Houston Chronicle:

However, Innes’ ratings have mirrored those of the station and of Houston sports radio in general. KBME’s morning drive audience share as of the most recent Nielsen Audio ratings ranked 25th among all Houston radio stations among men 25-54, the key demographic for sports radio, and trailed the station’s competitors at KILT and KFNC (97.5 FM).

Innes also was involved in occasional controversy at the station. The Texans in 2017 revoked his media credentials, citing repeated violations of team media policies, and station personnel were removed from the Radio Row broadcast area in Minneapolis prior to Super Bowl LII in January 2018 after a confrontation between Innes and KILT talk show host Seth Payne.

He also was suspended in May 2018 after he spoke on the air about his disagreements with talk show host Adam Clanton, who was subsequently fired by the station.

As always, people took to Twitter to air their grievances, after the jump:

It appears Jim Mudd, who was also featured on the show, is out of a job:

Your thoughts on this development? Where would YOU like to see Josh Innes go next?

  1. Yes come back to philly. You were better than most that are on the air currently.

    1. If you mean better at being a self-absorbed blowhard, who thinks he’s more important than he really is, then I agree wholeheartedly.

  2. Innes is a blowhard who has no respect or consideration of the people he works with and more especially, his competition. He spends an inordinate aamount of time asking his listeners what they think of his show and of him, like he has an inferiority complex to the enth degree. And he is not all that knowledgeable regarding sports. He’s more of a shtick kind of radio personality.

That being said, I’d take Innes back to take over the 97.5 morning show to replace Marc Farzetta. I’m sorry, but Fatzetta is just God awful! And Tre Thomas offers nothing to that show. Farzetta just spouts one continuous hot take all show long without exhaling. He’s not real and authentic whatsoever. It’s all crap! I’d pair Innes with Jamie and get rid of everyone else on that show. That pairing soul at least have a shot at competing against that tired old hag Cataldi down the dial.

      1. Yes, I demand you to read it ALL. Right this very moment. Go. Now. I know it’s probably exhausting for you.

    1. I could not agree with your post more, especially about Thomas. I don’t think the pairing would work with Jamie though. Josh is proud of who he is and comfortable with his skin color. Jaime is just riddled with white guilt. Jamie, just because you are white, doesn’t make you a bad person.

      1. Hahaha he loves going overboard on the white man guilt . 97.5 should pair lardass josh with farzy. Get rid of bob c and tra

  3. The Fake Cuz bit that he did was 100 times better than anything the real Cuz ever did. Thanks to whoever it was here that posted the link.

    1. it was i, and yes it’s better than anything the cuz has ever done and probably the greatest bit in philly sports radio history (i know that isn’t saying much). I liked Innes and would take him over anyone on either station as of now. I barely listen to either station since it’s iggles 24/7 and nobody deviates from the stupid cliche sport talk topics.

here is fake cuz once again….https://soundcloud.com/nickpiccone/cuz-impersonator-on-innes

  4. Bring back josh Innis!!! Better than these boring fucks on philly radio . Sports radio needs a headlineer heel like big josh

  5. Loved Josh, but your boss Kyle loved to hate him. I hope he comes back, but I’m sure the chances are small.

  6. Morning show is rough. Mark was better as 3rd fiddle
on Angelo’s show. Maybe 4th if Hollis was scheduled that day.

  7. Josh should go to 97.3. The ecw of philly & south jersey sports radio . Love or hate fats but was entertaining . We need radio wars back

  8. He was caught fingering his azzwhole on commercial break and then pushing buttons. And that was just on Tuesdays.

  9. So Josh Innes is viewed the same as the Dallas Cowboys by the corrupt local sports radio. Lets report on things that have nothing to do with the city

    1. no denying innes was good for business. he was always on the front page of phily dot com and cb

  10. I’d probably give philly sports radio a look again if they brought him back. Not even for the radio wars crap, just because I enjoyed how he trolled brain dead sports radio callers.

  11. Replace Farzy and give Josh the morning shift. Cuz and Mike will go crazy but who cares. Can you imagine the fireworks over there if that happened. Both Cuz and Mike would quit which would be no loss. The station would save a ton of money. You could get Josh back here for around $90K. That is a huge savings compared to what they are paying the other personalities.

  12. Hey don’t forget about me. I’m on about 10 different shows and podcasts. I talk about rap beefs and other interesting topics besides sports.

  13. Worst host ever. Didn’t know that the eagles hadn’t won a super bowl. Glad missanelli gave him the gunt punch.

  14. This is the happiest day of my life! There’s soo many people I’d like to thank I don’t know where to begin!
