Last week, Dallas Cowboys DT David Irving was suspended indefinitely for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

This happened about two weeks after teammate Randy Gregory was also suspended indefinitely for the same exact thing.

No one should be surprised that Dallas Cowboys players are facing off-field issues, but what was interesting was when Irving took to Instagram live to explain his thoughts while appearing to smoke the Swedish Cheebah.

A snippet:

Irving, after the jump:

It’s funny, you know, some people (say) ‘Oh, you’re addicted to weed, you’re addicted to this and that,’ he said. I mean, shit, if I’m gonna be addicted to something, I’d rather be addicted to marijuana, which is medical — it’s a medicine; I do not consider it a drug — rather than Xanax bars or the hydros or the seroquel and all that crazy shit that they feed you.

….

Like I said, it’s not about smoking weed. How many NBA players you see getting in trouble about this? How many coaches you see getting in trouble about this? How many baseball players? How many UFC (fighters) getting in trouble?

Yeah. I mean, I personally would have to agree with him. It’s 2019, time to stop treating the ganja how we used to.

As Bob Saget once said in the award-winning film Half Baked, “Marijuana is not a drug. I used to suck **** for coke!”
