The Birds moved up three spots to 22 by trading with the Baltimore Ravens to take the tackle out of Washington State, jumping ahead of Houston who was more than likely also looking at him.

With the pick, Dillard is expected to be the heir apparent to the aging Jason Peters when he retires, which could be next year. GM Howie Roseman had Dillard in the top 10 on their big board and rated the best tackle in the draft.

There was a report that the Eagles were going to move up to 13 and get Christian Wilkins, but it reportedly fell through at the last second. I’ll take the offensive tackle.

With that, they have two second round picks tonight and two more picks on Saturday. Here’s the entire list:

As for the current Eagles, Tim Jernigan is coming back on a one-year deal, and Brandon Brooks’ rehab is looking good.

After beating the Mets on Wednesday, the Phillies needed extra innings in their game against the Marlins. They also needed Hector Neris not pitching the 10th. After nearly losing the game in the previous inning, the reliever gave up a two-run home run to Starlin Castro with two outs in a 3-1 loss.

Compared to Miami’s 12 hits, the Phils only recorded four. One of them was a Sean Rodriguez solo shot in the bottom of the second. Cesar Hernandez had two of those hits. Aaron Nola had a good outing, striking out four in 6 2/3 innings and allowed a run on seven hits.

The series continues this weekend with Jerad Eickhoff, Jake Arrieta, and Zach Eflin scheduled for starts this weekend.

Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals between the Sixers and Raptors gets started on Saturday. The entire series schedule is out, and with San Antonio forcing a Game 7 against Denver, Game 1 will be 7:30 PM on TNT.
