Cuttino Mobley Believes Ben Simmons to be a "Very Arrogant Individual"
Well shit, this came out of left field.
We’ve got Cuttino Mobley going in on Ben Simmons on episode #573 of the “I Am Rapoport” podcast, hosted by comedian/actor/whatever Michael Rapaport, who is not related to Ian, the NFL reporter.
Mobley, who grew up in Olney and went to Cardinal Dougherty, had this to say about the Sixers’ All-Star:
Huh, well that’s something.
Sure, Ben doesn’t have much to say about his shooting ability, or lack thereof. We’ve been over that several times. I don’t think the way he dismisses the jump shot question from the media helps the perception that he really cares about that part of his game, but it doesn’t mean he’s incapable of working on it over the summer and eventually adding it to his arsenal.
The “light skinned” comment is interesting, and comes from even further out of left field than that entire paragraph. In the most simple of terms, the black community sometimes uses “light skinned” to suggest that you’re thin-skinned, like you’re sort of fake and/or arrogant. You’re not a real black dude. That’s my novice understanding of the issue as a white guy who went to Boyertown. For what it’s worth, Ben’s dad is an American black man and his mom is a white Australian woman, so I think his complexion probably looks exactly how you’d expect it to look.
