Let’s get it back to the Eagles.

First day of rookie minicamp down at the NovaCare Complex.

Doug Peterson opened his press conference with this:

“How bout those Sixers right? Stay alive? Game seven? Love it.”

On Carson Wentz, Pederson said his quarterback has “been working, encouraged by his progress and where he’s at.” We also had our first faux-combative media exchange! –

Dave Zangaro: When OTAs start in less than two weeks, will (Carson Wentz) be on the field?

Pederson: How does that pertain to rookie minicamp?

Zangaro: It’s all about Carson from (inaudible)

Pederson: No, it’s all about the rookies that are in this weekend.

Zangaro: So you won’t say if he’s going to be on the field?

Pederson: Not right now, not until we get to that point. He’s on the field right now in phase two.

Zangaro: But it’s a different type of practice, a different type of workout than OTAs.

Pederson: Yeah, we’ll address it when we get to OTAs.

Here’s what else Doug said, plus groundbreaking video, after the jump:

  • With rookie quarterbacks, looking for command in the huddle, verbage (sic), handling of different concepts. “We sort of introduce them to what it’s like, whether it’s a regular season install or a training camp install.. you just don’t want to bog them down because they can’t be free and relaxed in practice.”
  • The Eagles will cross-train offensive lineman, Big V included. (question was about using some other guys to help provide guard depth)
  • Andre Dillard is different in that regard, “just trying to get his feet wet, keep him where he’s at, let him play there.”
  • Miles Sanders: great opportunity for him to come in and “begin to understand our playbook and the terminology.” Duce Staley will work with him and other running backs every day.
  • He doesn’t notice a difference between local guys and others who were drafted from schools in different parts of the country. Says most rookies are bright eyed to start their NFL careers. “We just make sure they stay focused and on task. This is now their job, their legacy…”

Now to the groundbreaking video, here are some clips, with my thoughts:

Damn… he looks good.

He’s ready. 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns this year.

Is it time for Clayton Thorson to start over Carson Wentz?

Man… I’m pumped.

Eagles 16-0 this year.
